Navigate to a Kaltura video
Open any page with a Kaltura video player — in your LMS, MediaSpace, or a custom-domain deployment. Log in through your institution as usual.
Save Kaltura lectures and training videos before institutional access expires or content rotates.
Institutional access to lecture recordings and training materials often has an expiration date. Kaltura Downloader lets you save these videos while you still have access, so you can review them long after the semester ends or the content rotates. The extension works directly with your LMS session—no extra logins needed.
It detects Kaltura players in Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, and other platforms, then resolves HLS streams to offer quality choices. After you pick a resolution, it downloads and stitches all segments into a single MP4 file. The progress panel shows real-time status, including segment count and estimated time.
Your downloaded MP4 is named with the video title and entry ID for easy organization. Once saved, you can watch it on any device without relying on an internet connection, making it perfect for commutes, flights, or areas with unreliable networks.

Short, practical feedback from people using Kaltura Downloader in real workflows.
My university uses Kaltura through Canvas and I usually struggled to save lectures. Other tools wanted me to install ffmpeg and mess with the terminal. This just works — click, pick quality, done.

We use Kaltura for corporate training and videos disappear after the enrollment period. I saved the entire compliance series before my window closed. The quality matched what I saw in the player.

The fact that it works across different Kaltura setups is impressive. I've used it on my university's instance and a conference site running a completely different Kaltura config. Both worked first try.
