Provide a content hash
Paste a SHA-256, MD5, or IPFS CID into the extension panel, or right-click a hash link on any webpage to start a lookup.
Download files from hash-based networks with automatic integrity checks, ensuring every file you save is authentic and untampered.
When you provide a content hash—by pasting it into the extension or right-clicking a hash link on any webpage—Hash Downloader queries supported networks to locate a downloadable source. Once found, the file details are displayed, and you can start the download with a single click.
A real-time progress panel tracks your download speed, bytes transferred, and verification status. After the transfer completes, the extension recomputes the file hash locally and compares it to the expected digest. If the values match, the file is confirmed authentic; if they differ, a clear warning appears, preventing you from saving a tampered version.
Duplicate detection recognizes previously downloaded hashes and offers to skip re-retrieval, saving you time and bandwidth. With cross-browser support for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, and Opera on Windows, macOS, and Linux, Hash Downloader integrates seamlessly into your existing workflow, making hash-based retrieval straightforward and secure.

Short, practical feedback from people using Hash Downloader in real workflows.
I verify research datasets daily and this tool automates the hash check I used to do manually with shasum. Paste the hash, download, and the integrity report is instant.

The IPFS CID support is excellent. I use it to pull files from public gateways and the hash verification catches corrupted downloads before they pollute my archive.

As a digital forensics analyst, knowing that the files I tried I save has a verified hash chain is non-negotiable. This extension builds that into the download process itself.
